Google Voice Integration
To use Google Voice℠ from Talkatone you have to have Google Voice℠ to Google Talk℠ registered using the same GMail (or Google Apps) address and have integration enabled between them:
- Login to your GMail web account using Mac or PC and sign in to chat there.
- Make at least one phone call from there using “Call phone” button (you may need to accept terms of service). If you don’t have “Call phone” you may need to install Google Video chat browser plugin first.
- Optionally: To receive your Google Voice calls in Talkatone as VoIP you may login to your Google Voice account and set up forwarding calls to “Google Chat”.
You also understand that Google Voice is call enhancement service which may not provide emergency (911) calling.
We strongly encourage using WiFi for Google Voice VoIP calling. Google Voice VoIP calls have significantly higher bitrate (use more bandwidth) than Google Talk and do not tolerate packet loss of cellular networks well.
Google Voice may be not available worldwide for every GMail account. Google, Inc claims that every personal GMail account United States is eligible for Google Voice integration. Corporate Google Apps accounts have to be transitioned to the “New Architecture” (please contact your domain administrator if your Google Apps account has not been transitioned yet).
Calls made using Google Voice may be not free, please review calling rates directly with Google, Inc.
Support for Google Voice calling is experimental feature and may be terminated by Google, Inc anytime without notice by changing Google Voice to Google Talk call routing.
TalkMe.IM, Inc (maker of Talkatone) is not affiliated with Google, Inc.
Google Voice℠ and Google Talk℠ are registered Service Marks of Google, Inc.
